Custom USA made twill fabric for our pillows

The fabric used to make ComfyComfy buckwheat pillows has to follow these three criteria: durable for years of use, made from natural fibers, and soft enough for comfortable bedtime use. We have tested many types of fabrics to make our buckwheat pillows.

ComfySleep buckwheat pillows are made from custom-milled fabric that took two years to develop. Our fabric starts with organically grown cotton from Texas, which is then milled into tightly woven cotton twill fabric. Our 9 oz cotton twill helps dampen the rustling sound of buckwheat hulls and contains any dust created by the hulls after years of use.

Think about weaving - a weft thread will go under, over, under, over a warp thread. Twill fabric is made by changing the pattern so the weft thread will go over more than one warp thread before going back under. There is also a step between weft threads. This creates a diagonal pattern in the fabric.

Denim is a good example of twill fabric. If you're wearing jeans, take a look and see if you can see the diagonal pattern in them. Like a good pair of jeans, the twill we use to make our pillows is durable for many years of use. Unlike jeans, our fabric is undyed natural cotton.
